The Michael Andretti Foundation donated $6,000 to local Lehigh Valley charitable organization, The Fund to Benefit Children and Youth, Inc. as part of the “Breakfast with Michael Andretti” program that was held at Nazareth Speedway on Friday, August 27, 2004.

The breakfast offered fans the opportunity to be a VIP for the morning and get an inside look at the activities that take place at IRL events with Andretti Green Racing (AGR). Nazareth Speedway provided discounted tickets and paddock access to all participants so they could get a look around an IRL IndyCar Series® event. All guests were treated to a full-service breakfast at the AGR hospitality unit, which was followed by meet and greets, autographs and discussions from all four of the Andretti Green Racing IndyCar drivers: Dario Franchitti, Bryan Herta, Tony Kanaan and Dan Wheldon as well as owner Michael Andretti. The day also included speakers from two of AGR’s partners, Honda Performance Development and Firestone Racing.

This breakfast was part of The Michael Andretti Foundation’s “Breakfast with Michael Andretti” program that is currently in its second year. It provides breakfast events at various tracks that host the IRL IndyCar Series® and the funds raised from these events go to charities that are involved with the Michael Andretti Foundation.

“It’s nice to be able to use and expose our racing program to raise money for a great charity like the Fund to Benefit Children and Youth. I’m especially grateful that we were able to sell out our breakfast and raise $6,000 which will help many children and families here in my hometown area,” commented Michael Andretti.

The $6,000 raised at the breakfast will go to the Fund to Benefit Children and Youth, Inc., a Lehigh Valley non-profit organization that promotes the welfare of children and youth subject to or at risk of abuse or neglect, as well as the families of such children and youth. The funds donated by the Michael Andretti Foundation will go toward the following items for local children: clothing for school, school supplies, many single beds and mattresses for children, washing machines, educational day camps and other health and family needs that are received. The Fund has no administrative costs so 100 percent of donations received go directly to fill the needs of the children.

If anyone is interested in making a donation, any additional donations can be made to: Fund to Benefit Children and Youth, Inc. 903 East Elm Street, Allentown, PA 18109.

The Michael Andretti Foundation is a 501(c)(3) foundation that was established in 2003 to help people who have shown need and to help promote programs for better health, education and welfare of America’s children and citizens. The MAF will concentrate on helping four charitable organizations for the 2004 season. The Drink Smart responsibility program, Education is Freedom, Fund to Benefit Children and Youth and the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
